Purpose:

Manage all aspects of the Commercial & Lubes business in Haiti (New customer prospecting, Pricing, Marketing of fuels and lubricants, Customer Relations, Health/Safety/Security/Environment (HSSE), Contracts) and the overall profitability of the business in country. Responsible for all negotiations and interfaces with customer base to include Industry, Construction, Government, Power generation, Agriculture, NGOs, International organizations, Marine, Auto-Parts etc. and other external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver the following key targets (margin, volumes, credit, income, customer service) for the Commercial and Industrial sector through a structured approach to customer management
  • Prospect the market for new customers to add to the portfolio in Industry, Construction, Government, NGOs, International organisations, Power generation, Agriculture, Marine , Auto-Parts and others
  • Prepare sales proposals, bids, and contractual terms and conditions for new and existing customers and manage such conditions once contracts are in place
  • Assess customer profitability for assignment of credit and proactively manage debt using key metrics (% overdue and Days of Sales Outstanding)
  • Prepare annual sales plans for the Commercial, Industrial and Lubes sector which includes sales by product and operational expenses
  • Promote “full offering” to customers to improve penetration of fuels and lubricants
  • Prepare rolling quarterly estimates of product demand, with monthly updates, for submission to Operations to ensure a timely product replenishment cycle
  • Ensure customer compliance with negotiated terms (Volumes Targets, Credit, HSSE, Site Standards, etc) and conduct routine audits at customer premises
  • Plan and deliver required training for customers in the areas of product handling and storage
  • Monitor competitor activity within the fuels and lubricants industries in order to compile market intelligence including pricing tactics and expiring contracts
  • Maintain a keen awareness of developments and trends in the economic and business environment, their impact to these market sectors and assist in developing adaptive strategies and tactics to ensure maximum business results

HSSE Responsibilities:

  • Encourage the HSE-MS implementation
  • Perform Risk Assessments, Facilities/Procedures Audits, Wet stock Reconciliations at all commercial sites, and take the appropriate corrective measures
  • Ensure that SOL’s HSE Policies are well understood, embraced and applied by customers at all SOL commercial sites
  • Organize appropriate trainings for all commercial sites management and staff
  • Carry out visits to facilities and other leadership activities

  • Other contractors providing ad-hoc service

Qualification requirements:

  • BS or BA degree (preferably in Business Administration or Engineering)
  • Minimum 2 or 3 years prior work experience
  • Able to work effectively under specified controls, processes and procedures
  • A pleasant disposition with the ability to communicate clearly
  • Confidence when dealing with customers
  • Knowledge of English required

Competency requirements/others:

  • Proactive, creative, and customer oriented
  • Knowledge of the Haitian market and operational methods of people in the area
  • Relevant sales experience including responsibility for managing multiple customers and locations
  • Numerate with the ability to understand sales and management information reports
  • Able to self-plan, motivate, and deliver results
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm and an attitude to work well with others in teams
  • Excellent interpersonal relationships with the proven ability to manage people
  • Understanding of fuels and lubricant pricing (desired)
  • Marketing planning and sales execution
  • Proficient in Microsoft Products – Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
